I went to an air show on Sunday, and possibly the best picture I took was of a car. Surprisingly, I can find no information about this rig on the Internet. I did, however, find this !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! about the owner and driver, Ray Kelley. He claims to top 300 mph on a high-speed run (this was during a demo), but the Temple police failed to clock him on radar.
I will accost you all later in the week with my pictures of the airplanes at the show, and maybe another shot of the jet dragster.

I always wonder why they don’t make these things wider.

It was fooking LOUD!!! After lighting the afterburner, he screamed by on the taxiway right in front of me, maybe 30 feet away. Holy crap. The high speed run itself was rather anticlimactic. No flame, father away on the runway. It was fast, but the closeup flames and scream was much better.

Not much heat, but a ton of kerosene smell.

I feel like it would be safer but I’m not a racer or engineer so I’ll defer to their years of experience.

Broken record here, but hope you can catch one at a night show someday. Here is some footage I shot at Oshkosh last year of a similar vehicle.

Oshkosh is definitely on my bucket list.

I’ve seen that guy at the Miramar show. Very impressive.
